Guillaume Henry Is Leaving Nina Ricci
After three years as the creative director of Nina Ricci, Guillaume Henry is stepping down. Before his Fall 2018 collection was presented in Paris earlier this month, rumors swirled of Henry’s impending departure but were quickly denied by the maison. Today, Nina Ricci confirmed the departure.
Henry joined Nina Ricci in 2015, following Peter Copping’s successful tenure. Prior to his appointment, Henry was credited with revivifying Carven as its creative director in the early 2010s (the brand, launched by Marie-Louise Carven in 1945, flourished in the Paris of the 1950s but had been long quiet). At Ricci, Henry traded the gamine vision that saw success at Carven for a more serious, sultry brand of femininity. His runway shows in Paris were becoming increasingly theatrical—see Spring 2018’s circus-theme show. While the collections didn’t always garner critical acclaim, some of Henry’s creations were worn by the likes of Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Gigi Hadid.
Nina Ricci has not yet named Henry’s replacement.
